As Comic-Con draws closer and we start filling our schedule with all the awesome things we want to do and see while were there, it's important to know about all the additional events taking place just outside the convention center or after-hours. With so much going on, it's easy to miss out on really some really cool stuff, so here's a listing of the offsite events and parties that we've learned of.

Taking place throughout San Diego Comic-Con 2012:

 –Extra at Comic-Con: “3 days of free outdoor entertainment.” July 12th-14th in Bayfront Park, (that grassy area in between the convention center and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.) Celebrity interviews, cast table reads of shows, Kevin Smith, the Bacon Brothers performing live, movie screenings! This sounds like Woodstock for geeks! So much stuff is happening at this location. Keep checking for updates.

-Walking Dead Escape: Think you have what it takes to survive a zombie outbreak? July 12-14th at Petco park “The Walking Dead” will give you the chance to prove it. Make it through a course of zombies and get a limited edition copy of “The Walking Dead” #100

-Gam3rcon: Video games, card games, board games, whichever one is your thing, Gam3rcon is the place to be to play them. July 12th- 15th at the 10th Avenue Theater. Bring your A-game and show those noobs how it’s done!

-NerdHQ : “…over 15,000 square feet of gaming, technology, and entertainment for visitors to enjoy.” Taking place at Block No. 16 Union and Spirits inside San Diego’s gas Lamp area, NerdHQ promises 40 XBox gaming stations along with demos of the latest laptops, tablets, and PCs by Vizio.

-TR!CKSTER: "a pop-up gallery, retail store and clubhouse of sorts celebrating the spirit of DIY and creator-owned art – held workshops, screenings and late night, DJ’d cocktail parties" This sounds like a great place to mingle with independent creators, see them in action, and grab a drink. Thursday, July 12th:

-Dawn of the con: A free party for Comic-Con badge holders hosted by none other than Rob Zombie! Rocking Petco Park from 5:30pm to 11pm!

–HAVEN at Comic-Con: The cast of the SyFy show HAVEN will be hanging out at Sidebar (corner of 6th and Market st.) from 8pm to 11pm.

-Comic-Con Kick Off Party by Tokidoki: A 21 and over party bringing together music and fashion.

UPDATED -CBLDF Comic-Con Welcome Party: Sponsored by Image and promising appearances by a lot of comic-book creators, come by and support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Taking place at the Westgate hotel at 8:00pm

-POP Thursday Goes Comic Crazy: Head over to The Museum of Photographic arts for a costume contest, live body painting, a screening of Sin City and a celebration of photgraphy. Event starts at 7pm.

-Comedy Night with Andre “Black Nerd” Meadows: Stand up comedy on the geeky side. Taking place at the 10th Avenue Theater in conjunction with Gam3rCon

-Totally Geektastic 80's Dance party with Stan Lee: Two words: STAN LEE, that's all you need to know. Okay, the "80's dance party" thing sounds pretty sweet too. This should be big! Taking place at Spin night club, it starts at 9pm. Get your tickets here:

Friday, July 13th:

UPDATED –SPIN + IHEARTCOMIX Comic-Con Party: Cosplay, Suicide Girls, live art and live music! Featuring Andrew WK, Peanut Butter Wolf, HOTTUB, Alexander Spit, and Franki Chan!  Taking place at 4th & B, starting at 8:00pm Get you tickets before they sell out!

-Workaholics Happy Hour: Comedy Central's "Workaholics" is coming to Comic-Con and calling it a short work day with happy hour starting early! Taking place from 2pm to 5pm at the Float Rooftop Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel across from the convention center, no real details on this one yet, but hopefully the cast will be there to join you for a drink.

-San Diego Zombie Walk: The annual zombie outbreak of downtown San Diego. Dress up as one of the hundreds of undead or watch them all roam the streets. Be sure to bring a camera, some of the zombies go all out with their costumes. Scheduled to start at 5:30pm at 4th and Broadway.

-SuperHero Pub Crawl (Day 1): Who hasn't wanted to have a drink or five with their favorite SuperHero? Now you can in downtown San Diego. Drink specials and bar hopping with fellow costumed crusaders. Find out more at

-I Wish My Life Was An RPG: A live one Woman Performance by Ashphord Jacoway. Taking place at 7:30pm at the 10th Avenue Theater as part of Gam3rcon, and free with Gam3rcon admission.

-Con of the Dead: The official San Diego Zombie Walk after party by FEARnet! Invite only and limited to 300 zombies! Taking place at the Voyeur night club on 5th Ave.

-Cottontail Massacre: “a collection of the most amazing artists, performers, weirdos, comic geeks, whiskey bathers, dj's and more brought together for your entertainment!” A 21 and over event featuring live painting, DJ’s, booze, and even go-go dancers!

-Rodenberry’s Comic-Con Party: Taking place at the Fluxx night club. Not much is listed about this one but there are usually plenty of celebrities at Rodenberry’s partys. SDCC Power Party: Live music, a bar, and fellow He-Man and She-Ra fans! Free admission, or $40 VIP (VIP gets perks!) Taking place at Hennessey’s on 4th Ave from 7pm to close.

-"The Devil's Carnival" Screening: "Fa la la, it's off to Hell we Go!" The creators of "Repo!The Genetic Opera" are back with their next cult classic, "The Devils Carnival", showing at Gaslamp 15 on 5th Ave. Come see the film, or spend a little extra for VIP tickets and meet the crators as well.

-The 2012 Steampunk @ Comic-Con Party: Emerse yourself in the exciting world of steampunk. Music, beverages, (Ale and wine are extra) and gadgets and gizmos on display. Taking place and benefiting the San Diego Automotive Museum.

Saturday, July 14th:

UPDATED -Keyhole Cabaret Presents Nerd-tastic Burlesque: “a sexy tribute to geekdom with burlesque numbers inspired by comics, science fiction and fantasy”.  Check out what sounds like the hottest show at Comic-Con. Taking place at the Stout Pub (1125 6th Ave.) Doors open at 7:00pm, Show begins at 8:00pm. Get your tickets before they sell out:

UPDATED -Space Command Countdown Party: Be part of the launch of the new sci-fi franchise “Space Command”. No comic-con badge needed, open to all. From 6pm-9pm at the Embassy Suites, Monterrey Ballroom.

-“Kevin Smith: Hollywood Babble-On at the house of blues”: Once a simple fan boy himself, now Kevin Smith is one of the biggest names at Comic-Con. This year he is bringing his “Hollywood Babble-on” podcast to The House of Blues San Diego. The show is scheduled for 11pm.

-After Party with "The Slants": Taking place at The Stage Bar on 5th Ave, come see "...the only all-Asian American dance rock band in the world" play a free live show! (They are playing again on Sunday)

-Tomato Battle: "Beer. Bands. Tomato fight." Exactly what it sounds like, be part of an epic tomato fight in downtown San Diego! Have enemies? Invite them and see them splattered in tomatos. Have friends? Bring them to and splatter them as well!

 –Flicking Night: Lonsdale & Brooks perform live: “Folk music with a geeky spin”. One of the many 10th Avenue Theater rooftop events offered by Gam3rcon Check out the event page for more details:

-The Auqabats Super Comicon Show: The Auqabats are playing at The House of Blues. Come rock out with a live show! Order your tickets here:

-WOBBLE: Invaded by Unicorns: This "benefit for the Charlie the Unicorn Art Car at Burning Man" will feature DJ's and a raffle to win a ticket to Burning Man. Check out the event page for more info:

Sunday, July 15th:

-Comic-Concert: After Comic-Con draws to a close, listen to some geek rock at Whiskey Girl (21+) on 5th Ave. Promising live bands and special guests, " official cover charges for this event, a $5 donation is kindly requested."

-After Party with "The Slants": Taking place at The Stage Bar on 5th Ave, a second chance to see"...the only all-Asian American dance rock band in the world" play a free live show! (They have a Saturday night show as well.)

 –De-Con-Pression Party: “Final prize drawings, music, food, and foosball.” Taking place at the 10th Avenue Theater as part of Gam3rcon.

-IFC's Comedy Bang! Bang! Live!: Come catch the filming of IFC's "Comedy Bang! Bang!", part late night talk show, part sketch comedy, catch the first leg of the show's tour as it kicks off in San Diego.

If you party too much, please DON"T DRINK AND DRIVE! San Diego has plenty of taxis. And if you don't want to leave your car over night, guess what? There's a solution:
